Before I get into Hidden Away news and share new previews, I'd love to bring your attention to the latest book in The Few and Cursed universe - a very special Artist Edition featuring the original series, Crows of Mana'Olana, in pristine black and white preserving Fabiano's original inks!
This hardcover special edition will only have as many units sold on Kickstarter printed and once the campaign is over this Thursday at 11:59pm est, it's done for, you'll have to find it in the secondary market. Outside whatever is left after fulfillment is completed, I won't make this available in future campaigns or comic cons.
The idea is to really offer a VERY unique collector's item.
Now, I understand many of you have pledged towards other books of the series alongside Hidden Away and those have been held up because of our delay in production. That sucks, I know but I can only start fulfillment through BackerKit, whether digitally or physically, when the surveys are sent out and completed.
And I can't do that so far ahead of actually shipping the rewards. With that being said, if you are a backer with previous titles and would like to check them out right away please DM me or shoot me an email to [email protected] and I will try to at least share digital files outside BackerKit.
HIDDEN AWAY NEWS & UPDATES
Production continues, there isn't much else to share at this time other than Stan has been working on the pages and even though we haven't progressed as we wanted, we are actively working on it every day.
I had a nice conversation with Stan about when to realistically expect to have Hidden Away completed over the past couple of days and I'm confident the dates below won't suffer any more delays until we go to print and the manufacturer gives us their production time.
As announced before the book will be much bigger than anticipated with over 80 pages of story alone. While we're over the hump it is still pretty demanding to have Stan deliver more than 20 pages per month without sacrificing quality and details.
Please bear with us just a little while longer and I guarantee you guys will get an amazing book when this ships out :)
By August 15th: Artwork completed - including colors!
Early August: BackerKit Surveys sent to all backers and we start Lettering & Design
Early September: The book is done! We go to print and digital fulfillment happens.
September: Printing in China concludes, transit time to our hubs in the US & UK
October: Fulfillment completed!
You have all been more than patient and supporting and I really thank all of you from the bottom of my heart, thanks so much! It's always a joy seeing new pages from Stan and I can't wait to have this done and shipped out.
Hidden Away will truly be a special one and if there was any other way to speed things up I would. I'm anxious to have you all experience this adventure with me :D

Hello gang!
Felipe here again with another status update on Hidden Away. We're back on track and producing new art pretty regularly even though we are a little bit behind as per the calendar I shared last month - which might've been a bit too ambitious.
Stan has been working on new pages and we're now coming up to 50% of the whole book completed. We really wanted to be further along by now but we're also having a lot of back and forth to make sure we get the artwork just right.
I'm loving his work and I can't wait for you all to experience it as well!
PRODUCTION & FULFILLMENT CALENDAR
I really wanted to have the art completed by the end of this month but I'm afraid that won't be possible seeing how we've progressed these past couple of months.
The dates below have been adjusted to accommodate our current rhythm but I can't be too sorry about it since the art has been stellar and we've been having constant progress.
Yes, the book is late but is coming along beautifully and I have no doubt it will be one to hold dear in the collection :)
May/June: Artwork completed!

Hello my backers!
It's been a little while since the last Update but starting with this one and moving forward I will reach out once a month every first of the month until we get close to fulfillment. When fulfillment rolls out you can expect to hear from me more often :D
Since I completed the script Stan has been finding the time to work on the book keeping up the quality we all expect from The Few and Cursed universe and his latest pages have been absolutely gorgeous!
After talking to Stan we decided to do things a bit differently so instead of him working on the book in batches of pages, and fitting them in his busy schedule, he is setting some time aside and finishing up everything from beginning to end.
This week he is finalizing all the layouts and starting next week he should start producing pages regularly until the work is done \o/
Not only we hope this helps speed things up but it definitely helps keep up the quality and continuity of the story. I understand we are falling way behind schedule on this one but as I've said multiple times in the past: I really wanted to get this book just right and not "half-ass it".
I'm absolutely stoked with the script and can't wait to see what Stan does with it! :D
In my last Update I shared our Production & Fulfillment Calendar pending Stan & Fabi's approvals and now after discussing the work flow with them and figuring out realistic deadlines, this is our newly planned calendar.
Even though these continue to be subject to change, we will do our best to keep as close to them as possible. Here we go:

I'm feeling a lot more comfortable about the above dates. With the script completed now it's a matter of trusting the artists to deliver on their work and they are all professionals of the highest caliber.
I have no doubt Hidden Away will be completed and out in the world ASAP \o/

Before I get into (finally!!) some exciting news for Hidden Away allow me to share our latest The Few and Cursed campaign on Kickstarter. We launched on Tuesday and we're already past 1000 backers with multiple Stretch Goals unlocked.
It's been a phenomenal campaign and I'm really thankful for all backers that pledged already. I completely understand if you choose to pass on this until Hidden Away is fulfilled but give it some thought. There's a reason why I have over 30 campaigns around here... yes, I do get late but I always deliver too, not once have I not sent backers their rewards :)

HIDDEN AWAY SCRIPT FINISHED UP!
In my last Update I was all gloom and defeated because the story was literally kicking my ass, I just couldn't figure out how to crack it. It took me a couple of months but I am so so so stoked to share it's done.
I finished up the script and come Monday I will start coordinating with both Stan and Fabi a slot in their schedules to get back at it. I'm sure now that the script has been completed they will both be able to work pretty quickly \o/

PAGE COUNT BUMP
Hidden Away started at 72 pages and through Stretch Goals I always planned on bumping it up to 80 pages to allow for some exciting extras. As it turns out, when I was writing the script I realized I didn't have enough pages to tell the story I wanted to.
I thought about going back and cutting some stuff to make the story fit but the more I advanced the script and the bigger the delay with it I thought to myself "Screw it, backers deserve a bigger book, they've been waiting for it for too long."
We're going to see a real page count increase, we're talking about 88 pages of story alone plus all the extras and other content for a whopping 96 total page count!! :D
Both versions of Hidden Away will now be almost 100 pages long... good news, right!?

FULFILLMENT CALENDAR
Last time I shared some dates I had no idea what lied ahead in terms of untangling the script and I did my best to estimate how much time I'd need with it. While I did need more time than anticipated, the following dates should be a bit more accurate pending Stan & Fabi's approvals.
Sure, dates are subject to change but with the script done, it gives me a lot more confidence to share these estimates with you.
Here we go:
February 7th: script finished & delivered!
February through March: Artwork done \o/
Early April: BackerKit Surveys sent to all backers
Mid to Late April: We go to print and digital fulfillment happens.
May: Printing in China concludes, transit time to our hubs in the US & UK
June: Fulfillment completed!
I'm super excited to finally get Hidden Away across the finish line, it's a very personal and dear project, I've fallen in love with the Gusanos and I hope you do too. They pretty much formed their personalities by themselves and all I had to do was transcribe their thoughts onto the page.
Script is done and I hope to be more frequent with the Updates now that we're gonna have more and more art to share.

November Update - project hit a creative snag and has been pushed to 2025 :(

Howdy folks,
I'm fully aware it's been a while since the last Update and that is completely on me. I make a point of sharing Updates when there's actually news to share and I'm afraid Hidden Away has hit a creative block in early September that I haven't been able to overcome so far.
That's twice on me. The artists, Stan and Fabi, are both on stand-by for a finished screenplay that I can't quite get it right. I've had multiple versions of my third act and I wasn't happy with any of them.
Maybe I'm being a bit of a perfectionist or maybe too protective of this particular story but truth be told as soon as I wrapped up Act 2 I tried many times to finish up the story and failed.
At some point I decided to shift my focus to TheFew and Cursed #10 and other Kickstarter campaigns that are currently being fulfilled or in the works as to not delay everything.
One thing I did right though was organize myself to have as much free time as possible after Comic Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil, to shift my focus back to Hidden Away - and give it my all!
PRODUCTION & FULFILLMENT CALENDAR
I've given myself a HARD DEADLINE to finally deliver the ending and get both Stan and Fabi back on track working on the book. I will be done before the Holidays with the script, for better or worse, I can't keep trying to break through and sometimes it's best to have a good story delivered than a perfect one that never materializes.
Here is my currently calendar for the project:
December: script finished & delivered!
January: Artwork completed. I'm confident both Stan and Fabi will have a pretty quick turnaround once I give them the script - they have been pretty fast with the pages delivered so far.
February: We go to print and digital fulfillment happens.
March: Printing in China concludes, transit time to our hubs in the US & UK
April: Fulfillment completed!
I know these are very frustrating news, I understand you all feel pretty bummed but my decisions are always keeping in mind what's best for the story I'm offering you. I want it to be truly great and not just good enough.
You backers have been nothing but kind, understanding and patient, I really appreciate it and appreciate you all. I sincerely apologize for this delay and will continue to strive to make it all worth it.
